Relocation Services

School Relocation Process

The school relocation process is different for every family. We create a bespoke programme to ensure that your children are able to adapt as quickly as possible when they move to a new school.

Whether your family is moving to the next town over, or halfway across the world, here are Some of the tools we offer to help make your family’s move a success.

Language Tutoring

Language Tutoring

Any move presents its own unique challenges. International moves can often present a extra hurdle: the language barrier.

At the same time, this can be one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to a child. Learning a foreign language at a young age is a skill that is likely to stick with them for the rest of their lives and will open up a myriad of new opportunities. Even so, an international relocation can be a difficult time for any student.

And we know this from personal experience. Our own CEdO, David, spent his first term in a French school (aged 6) utterly silent and barely interacting with anyone. However, that summer, he went on holiday to France, immediately began chatting away in French to the local kids and never looked back. He even got the accent so perfect that it took them several weeks to even realise that he was English!

Whilst our expert consultants will be able to work with you and translate as required to ease any application process, we can’t be with your student in the classroom.

What we can do instead is set up individual language lessons to make sure that they are able to understand and learn to the best of their abilities from the get go.

Application Support

Application Support

The first step to any successful school move is finding the right fit. In some cases there isn’t much choice, but in other situations we can help families identify the best option from a range of different types of school.

Will you want boarding or day? IB or A-Levels? Can we identify the best possible school district? Would your children thrive at a STEAM school, a sporty school or one dedicated to the performing arts? Selective or Non-Selective?

Once we’ve chosen the right school(s) we will walk you through each step of any application process: from submitting initial inquiries and paperwork, all the way through to any exams and interviews that may be required.

Our aim is to reduce the workload and stress for your family during what will likely already be a difficult time.

Getting Up To Speed

Getting Up To Speed

One of the major challenges when switching schools is making sure you are in the right place academically. No two schools are the same, so transferring can leave you ahead of your peers in some areas but playing catch up in others.

We work with all of our students to identify any gaps in their knowledge, create a personalised learning plan based on their target school’s curriculum and work with them to make sure they hit the ground running once they enter the classroom.

For some students, this is just a case of doing an hour or so’s catch-up work each week over the summer, whilst for others we offer intensive academic support over a longer period of time to give them the best chance of success.

Moving School

Moving School

Once we’ve identified the right school, gone through the registration/application process and have the student in the best possible position to succeed academically, all that is left to do is actually make the move. How this goes is ultimately down to each individual family and student, but we will be available to provide ongoing support and advice for as long as is necessary.

Transferring During the School Year

Whilst it is often not preferable. Sometimes a change of school is required in the middle of the academic year. Jobs don’t always fit into an Autumn to Spring schedule or there may be a range of other pressing reasons why a switch needs to be made. In such situations we work with students, families and schools to find the best long-term solution and make the transition as easy as possible.
