Learning shouldn’t just be confined to the classroom. Encouraging your children and students to engage with knowledge and activities outside of school is absolutely vital to their growth and development. Fortunately many of the world’s best museums and institutions have put together programmes that appeal to parents and students alike. And best of all, many of them are online and completely free!
Here are our top picks for February 2024’s online learning events:
- Young Portrait Explorers – Smithsonian Portrait Gallery (7th February)
An online workshop for children ages 3+ and their adult companions. a 30-minute program that incorporates close looking at art, movement and art-making.
- Beginners Spanish Workshop for Children– New York Public Library (7th February)
Looking for opportunities for your student to practice their Spanish? Students 5-12 are welcome at this online workshop.
- A 300,000-Year History of Human Evolution– Gresham College Lecture (7th February)
In a continuation of the “Evolution: The Big Questions” series, Professor Robin May will talk about the history of mankind and address the impact of human activity on evolution.
- Conservation Classroom: Valen-TINY Mammals– Smithsonian National Zoo (14th February)
Learn what makes a mammal a mammal in this Next Generation Science Standards-aligned virtual program for K-5 students.
- Kids STEAM: Crafts or Snacks– New York Public Library (16th February)
Preregister for this limited STEAM learning experience with the NYPL. Students 7-12 join an instructor to craft or cook.
- Documenting Coco Chanel– The Victoria and Albert Museum (26th February)
Older students with an interest in fashion can register to join this livestream with the filmmaker behind the BBC documentary ‘Coco Chanel: Unbuttoned’.
- AI Explorers– Create & Learn (Several Dates in February!)
Students 10-14 are welcome to join this free introduction to AI learning event offered several times throughout February. Additional offers are available for early years learners and high school students!
